What better way to beat the heat in August than a yoga retreat? One of these three retreats might be just what you’re looking for!

Shiva Rea in Malibu

Malibu, the ocean, hiking, and deepening your flow practice (or getting certified) under the guidance of spiritual diva Shiva Rea. Hard to find a better place to be. This new one-week retreat, Summer Flow Arts, is for anyone who wants to dive into Prana or Chakra Vinyasa flow, or maybe even yoga trance dance. Ocean-front high-end accommodations on the Living Flow Retreat estate in Malibu, or on the 16-acre Zuma Sanctuary for you “glampers” out there who prefer a cool airstream or tipi.

Villa in Cote d'Azur France

LuxYoga Côte d’Azur

Join an intimate group in the South of France for a week of Vinyasa brought to you by LuxYoga’s Benjamin Sears. LuxYoga’s beautiful private villa in the Côte d’Azur is your base (lucky you!) for a mixture of daily yoga, festive provençal meals, and regional trips to give you a cultural taste of one of the most stunning regions in the world. (OK, I know I’m a bit partial.) The spirit of the retreat is not to make you conform but to expand and deepen your practice with a healthy dose of introspection and bonding with a warm community of kindred souls. Many guests are repeat visitors (there’s a healthy NYC representation) — always a good sign!

Vinyasa and Yin Yoga Retreat with Tymi Howard at Kripalu Center in the Berkshires

For many, a week away is just not happening. We all love retreats but, for most, time is a scarce luxury. But, a weekend? Now that can be done. Tymi Howard’s “Strength, Wisdom and Courage” weekend retreat at Kripalu will focus on empowerment and alignment. Vinyasa with an equal parts Yin make this retreat a great opportunity to get grounded and inspired by your own capacity for cultivating creativity, courage, and overcoming your fears. If nothing else, the Berkshire mountains setting will leave you breathless — and not from fatigue but sheer awe.
